Nurturing Faith and Diversity
An Inclusive Church Valuing All, Fostering Growth in Faith, and Celebrating Diversity – Join Us in Worship and Community

We are a warm and welcoming church, accepting of all God's people; a diverse congregation in age and backgrounds; a place where everyone is valued for who they are now and not just what they might become; a place where everyone is encouraged to grow in faith, hope, and love.

For more information about us or our services, Baptisms, Weddings and other activities in the Ministry Unit, please use the navigation bar on this page, speak with someone after any service, or contact us by calling 0434 041 380.

As a congregation, we acknowledge the Kuku Yalanji and the Yirrganydji peoples, the traditional owners of the land on which our churches are built.

We pay our respects to their elders, past, present, and emerging, and we recognise their custodianship and role in caring for and maintaining the Country over thousands of years.

The Rector: Annette Woods

Annette Woods was born in Pukekohe NZ in 1958 to a dairy farming family.

After completing her schooling, she worked in the BNZ before marrying.

She has 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Her interests include piano, reading, craft, and cooking.

Annette first came to Far North Queensland in 1989.

After the youngest of her children completed school, she started some theological study with ACOM and completed her DipTh several years later!

Her spiritual journey began in the Baptist church growing up, and after marriage, in the Open Brethren Church. Both provided a great understanding of scripture. It was also here that she was involved in a band called Destiny Rescue which was primarily a prison ministry outreach, visiting several North Island prisons each month.

She attended many different churches in Cairns, settling on the Church of Christ where she was involved in ministry.

A series of personal issues saw her in the Anglican church in Edgehill.

Her study coach there was also the hospital chaplain and when he was called to ministry as Army Chaplain, she found herself in that role. She was Hospital Chaplain for 14 years during which time she was ordained Deacon on 4/8/08 at TGS Cairns, then Priest at TAS on 24/2/20.

Towards the end of her ministry as hospital chaplain, she felt a call to indigenous ministry and became Priest in Charge in Yarrabah.

During this time, she was asked to become Arch Deacon of The Cape, overseeing and equipping Aboriginal ministry in the diocese.  Annette continues in her role as Archdeacon while now ministering in the wonderful Mossman/Port Douglas Ministry Unit.
